Analytics

Customize and analyze demand metrics with flexible tables, filters, and saved segments.

ℹ️
This section is designed to provide Demand Planners and users with advanced, flexible analytics tools for the Demand Planning process, improving their capacity to analyze demand data across different periods and business segments.

Select Datasets to Display as Data Series

You can select many datasets that can be displayed as data series at the same time to analyze different data dimensions relevant to my planning. Click on "Add Dataset", and then select the specific data series you want to show. In the illustration picture, a user is trying to make β€œBase Demand” display.

Select a Color Per Dataset

You can set a new color per dataset (except Actual, Committed, and Last Plan) so that I can visually distinguish between different data series in the analytics charts and table.

Analyze data with Demand Table

Defining Segment Hierarchy

  • To define and save the segment hierarchy for displaying the demand breakdown, click on the setting icon and navigate to the Select Segments tab.

Adjusting the Number Scale

  • To adjust the number scale, click on the letter on the upper left side of the table and select between Dynamic (D), Billion (B), Million (M), Thousand (K), or Unit (U):
    • Dynamic: Automatically format to the first thousand (e.g., 10,000,000,000 β†’ 10B / 1,000,000 β†’ 1M)
    • Billion: Automatically format to billions (e.g., 10,000,000,000 β†’ 10B / 1,000,000 β†’ 0.001B)
    • Million: Automatically format to millions (e.g., 10,000,000,000 β†’ 10,000M / 1,000,000 β†’ 1M)
    • Thousand: Automatically format to thousands (e.g., 10,000,000,000 β†’ 10,000,000K / 1,000,000 β†’ 1,000K)
    • Unit: Keep the original figure (e.g., 10,000,000,000 β†’ 10,000,000,000 / 1,000,000 β†’ 1,000,000)

Adjusting the Number of Decimals

  • You can adjust the number of decimals in the table by clicking on add/remove decimals in the upper left corner of the table

Switching Table Display to Year-To-Year

  • You switch the table display to Year-To-Year by clicking on the Y2Y icon to compare demand values on an annual basis.

Selecting Value Comparison Method

  • You can select how the value of the dataset is compared to analyze the data according to different comparison metrics. To do that, choose one of the below options in the dropdown:
    • Contribution: Displaying the contribution to the total of the dataset.
    • Growth (%): Showing the value compared to last year in percentage. It only displays when Year-To-Year mode is activated.
    • Comparison (%): Displaying the value compared against the highlighted scenario in percentage.
    • Comparison (abs): Showing the value compared against the highlighted scenario in absolute value.

Selection of Actual Periods for Viewing Average Monthly Demand

  • Next, you can select the associated Actual period to view the Average Monthly Demand for the Past 12 months (P12M), Past 9 months (P9M), Past 6 months (P6M), and Past 3 months (P3M) to analyze trends and performance over different time frames.
ℹ️
Note: The KPIs reflect monthly average ACTUAL sales performance over the last 12, 9, 6, or 3 months. This analysis only includes the most recent sales data within the chosen period.

For instance, if sales data is available from October 2021 to January 2024 but you filter for May 2024 to April 2025, the run rates will show as β€œN/A” due to no data in the future period.

Customizing Analytics Display Through Settings

  • Lastly, you can use the settings icon to select which analytics metrics are displayed and in which order to tailor the analytics view to your specific needs and preferences (The metrics formula is provided in Appendix).

Apply page filter

Month Range filter:

Allows to select the periodΒ in which we want to focus on:

Segment filters:

Allows you to select the segmentsΒ that you want to focus on:

Creating Saved Segments:

The "Saved Segment" feature enables users to save a combination of filters (such as customer, product, and location) for easy retrieval and use in future analysis. This functionality helps users concentrate (and easier to navigate) on the aspects that are most important to them or their business.

Click on "Save as a Segment", and set the segment name (e.g. "Non Tender Pharmacy Chain").

Now you can retrieve this segment by using the saved segments drop-down

You can also utilize this Saved Segment when creating events. By choosing the pre-defined saved segment, the filter will be automatically applied.

Analytic Metric Formula

To provide the formulas for each of the analytics metrics listed, let's assume the following notations for simplicity:

  • N = Total number of periods (months, quarters, etc.) in the fiscal year under consideration.
  • YTD n = Year-To-Date value at month n, where n ranges from 1 to N (e.g., if N=12 for a year, n=1 would be January, and n=12 would be December).
  • YTGn = Year-To-Go value starting from month n+1 to the end of the fiscal year.
  • D = Total number of periods (e.g., months or quarters) for calculating averages or totals for half-year or quarter metrics.
